Check out this adorable Mom and Dad to be! Expecting their first, they visited me in my Mississauga Studio this week. They were just the cutest together!

We had a great time talking about their upcoming new bundle of joy. And we got some really wonderful captures! I just loved the look on Dad's face here! And the happiness and absolute beauty of Mom in every capture! She had a great "bump" and I can't wait to meet the little person inside!

I love to capture a variety of poses at Maternity Sessions in my photography studio in Mississauga, and I adore when clients bring a stuffed animal, shoes, or another item they have purchased for the baby... like this Owl...just the cutest!

Welcome Back Baby A! Mississauga Children's Photographer 5 month old

I've had better weeks, and I'll spare you the details for now, but the highlight of my week was this little guy. Baby A was back for his second session on the Milestones Program, where we aim to capture all the important developmental stages in your baby's life!

The first session is the Newborn Session which is held before baby is 10 days old. 5-7 days is actually the optimum timing, however that is not always possible!

We had a pretty long session when Baby A visited the first time...not a whole lot of sleeping going on, but perseverance pays off. Here is one of the captures from Baby A's newborn session.

The second studio session is done when baby can lay on their tummy and hold up their head looking forward. I love this age, the expressions that we get are always classic, and Moms love the little nuances of their baby's personality shining through!

I know I have said this before, but I have mixed feelings about a year end cake smash. I love them because they are so much fun, and they make me sad because they mark the end of another year of seeing baby grow up. I am lucky to have the opportunity to see each developmental stage of a new baby's life; newborn, head control, sitting, and standing. I am always amazed at how much the little munchkins grow between each session, and the time just flies by!

It seems like just yesterday we were doing Baby C's Newborn Session!

and both his other sessions came and went in a flash too.

and so that brings us to the smashing of the cake!

Ballons are always a blast, and I always provide them along with a cake for cake smash sessions!

Mom and Dad had brought a little giraffe toy to all of their sessions, so I thought a giraffe design on the cake might be appropriate....they loved it!

I like to try to work as closely as possible with clients to ensure that we get artwork that is perfectly suited for their decor! The prints and gallery wraps at A Darling Shot are all archive-ally finished and with proper care will last for generations!

I think that clients will find these new room templates helpful when we sit down together to select their wall art! The rooms really help clients to understand how lonely an 8x10 by itself is on the wall. The smallest size gallery wrap shown in this post is an 8x10 and there is 4 of them along with 2-11x14's and 1-16x20!

There are many different combinations of gallery wraps and frames available in Collections which will save you money over purchasing them individually!

We can change the wall colours to get a better idea of what will suit your decor!

The last of the official Holiday shots! I am winding down for a a week and a bit break over Christmas and New Years. I can't believe that it is December 8th already! My house has been Merry Ho Ho'ing since Halloween and yet somehow I have not bought one Christmas present yet! Trouble!

Totally love this family! Baby E is just the cutest little munchkin! Back for her third session we went all holiday all the time, and had a blast. Baby E had her wheels on for sure, and Mom and I got quite the workout chasing her around!

I always love to see this little sweetie pie, she is just the cutest. She had a bit of a cold, so we had to do a lot of wiping (and photoshopping!) but she looks great!

Beautiful Gallery Wraps! Mississauga Newborn and Maternity Photographer!

Just a little example of how wonderful a large piece can look in a room! This gallery wrap is 20x40 and it looks absolutely spectacular over the crib in the nursery! Pieces like this are an investment to be sure, however they last at least 100 years, and will be passed down to the next generation where they will be equally loved!

Little Miss K makes here Debut! Talented Mississauga Newborn Photographer

Another adorable little one in the studio this week. Mom and Dad were just the sweetest, nicest couple!

They were both just so happy with their new bundle of joy and how could they not be! Look how sweet she is.....

We can thank Mom for this one, she brought both the hat and the rose petals! Can you say, "sooooo cute!"

Another new prop! This one has interchangeable pom poms and a removable flower so it can be for the little lads who visit the studio as well!

We thought since it was close to Christmas when Little Miss K arrived we would have a wintery scene! Love this new hat and blanket!

At my photography studio located in my home, I am able to maintain a toasty warm 90 degrees and as you can see baby loves it! Check out that smile! Newborns are my specialty and I just love to work with them, and their parents!

Last week I got to step out of the "norm" a little bit with a slightly older cutie than usual!

I had not planned on using the box for a prop, but when this sweetie saw it, she was dying to sit in it; to the point of distraction, so we just went for it and I just love this soulful look she gave me!

Clients and non-clients alike are always enquiring about my hats! I often get emails asking about specific hats that I have in my portfolio of Children's Portraits.

When I first started buying hats from etsy.com I used quite a few different shops, but sizing from one store to another varied greatly. Newborn hats from one store barley fitting preemies, and newborn hats from another being large enough to fit a three month old.

So I started on a quest to find someone to get ALL my hats from and cease the litany of different sized newborn hats. At the end of the long journey, was Debby at BuggyD Creations. She had all the requirements I was looking for; crocheted animal hats, one of a kind items, and most of all that she was Canadian! Sweetest Little Lips! Baby I making her debut! Mississauga Children's Photographer

Last of last week's sneak peeks!

This little bundle of feistiness was in the studio last week. At 6 days she had the strongest head I had ever seen! Little Miss I would fully pick up her head and move it, with a fair bit of control!

We managed to get her to sleep for 20 minutes and whipped off some hats on the bean bag, but Miss I had her own ideas about how the session was going to go!

Thank God for Photoshop! The coke crate pose (last one) was a major photoshop job!

10 Day Old Newborn Photographer in Mississauga; Baby A

On Tuesday I had the pleasure of meeting Baby A and his Mom and Grandma! We had a really long session since Baby A had two sleepy times separated by about 2 hours of awake time! That 10 day mark...it is the beginning of the growth spurt and the end of flexibleness. I always allow sessions to go as long as is necessary though! I want to ensure to get enough shots of the variety that Mom and Dad have in mind!

Mom brought a few sports jerseys, which I love, but are only effective with sleepy baby...once Baby A finally passed out the second time, we rocked through them! I could not decide between showing the black and white or colour of the Maple Leaf's Jersey for a sneak peek, so I am putting them both up...Few more sneak peeks than normal as Mom and Dad are doing birth announcements :)

Cutest 3 month old! Mississauga Children's Photographer: Baby's First Year; 2nd Session

I have had a lovely summer. I hate to see it coming to an end! I have spent a lot of time in Hastings this summer, seeing clients and editing. One person can truly be thanked (but not named) for the fact that I have had this pleasure! I made the trip back to Mississauga for a few sessions this past week, but right back for another session in Hastings yesterday. It is beautiful out today, and although I am inside editing, the view is wonderful!

Newborn Session

On Monday this little guy was back for his second session! His first session (above) produced some wonderful shots, and we got some really great stuff this time too! Love the Lion hat from BuggyDCreations it has a matching diaper cover with a tail...too cute!

Mom and Dad are a blast, and little Baby G was far happier this time around! Such a cutie! Can't wait to see him again.

Last week I got to see another of my Baby's First Year clients. This little guy was here for his 3 month session some time back. He had been really premature, so at 3 months he was like a newborn. Holy Cow he caught up! Baby C was about 7 months for this session and he has grown! So adorable too! He has the best lashes, and the cutest little cowlicks!
We were lucky, and the weather cooperated by not being super hot and muggy. We did some outside stuff, and then after Baby C had a little power nap, we did some studio work.
Love him!

This past week I had the absolute pleasure of meeting this young fellow for the first time! He was just adorable, and so full of smiles! We had a great little mini session to start, and then we smashed cake! I love the cake smash, it is messy, but fun! Even when it turns out that the Birthday Boy is not too happy about getting messy (especially his toes), the pictures are classic!

It is an extra big sneak peek this time round, as Mom we are going to make up some Custom Birthday Cards! I am looking forward to it!

It always makes me a little sad when I pick up the cake for a munchkin on the Baby's First Year Program. For one an entire year has passed by, but more so that our time together is done. Watching all my little models grow up through their first year is a great part of my job, and I love them all!

Baby A was back for her final session, she is just such a sweetie! Mom is awesome, and she always makes me laugh during our sessions. She was a total trooper; fighting a cold/flu thing, she still did a great job keeping Baby A attentive, and smiling!

Adorable Munchkin! Newborn and Children's Photographer in Toronto

Last week I had the pleasure of seeing two newborns! I love to work with these little bundles of joy, they are so sweet, and although the sessions are way more work, and the galleries more lengthy to edit, capturing these new arrivals at their tiniest for Mom and Dad to be able to look back on is something that I adore!

Speaking of lengthy editing. This little munchkin's sneak peeks are a little late getting up on the blog, as he needed some serious editing to remove the flakey skin he had. Newborns often dry out after a few days out of the womb; this guy was covered in flakes!

I am a perfectionist and I want Babies of all ages to look great, so I spend a lot of time editing galleries for the creamy smooth baby skin that is desirous in photos:)

But we had other ideas, and after a bunch of feedings, and some very long awake time, he finally gave in and gave me a nice dose of sleeping! We got some great stuff! I loved this little one. She slept like an angel, and put up with all my posing without barely opening an eye. I wish every session could be so easy! I just loved the way the family hand shot turned out with the daffodil. I grew it in my garden at the Hastings studio! Gardening is one of the few things I still manage to find a little bit of time for; away from my computer or from behind my camera (although I have been known to take my camera gardening;) ) The bulbs are blooming and tulips, hyacinth, and daffodils abound, so clients are getting freebies! I usually charge $10 to get fresh flowers in for a session.

LOVED this little cutie pie! She was such an angel! I barley got peed on, and I did not get pooped on at all! It was wonderful! She slept pretty well, and put up with the whole day without getting too upset! It was a fairly long session since baby was a little older than the usual Newborns I work with, and thus not quite as easy to pose, but Mom was a trooper and did not make a single peep about the length of the session! We ended up with some great stuff!

Love this new prop from Debby over at Buggy D Creations ! Debby is truly talented with the crochet hook, and has made me some absolutely wonderful hats and diaper covers! This hat is just so pretty!

Mississauga Newborn Photographer; New Pricing

I love my job.

I love to meet new Mom's and their little bundles of joy newly arrived, all teeny and cute!

Making lasting memories for clients at such a special time in their lives is a rewarding thing, and I love to get feedback from my clients telling me how much they ADORE their pictures. But, sadly, one can not live on wonderful feedback alone!

I spend a lot of time editing and adding artistic touches to my photos and a client gallery can take a long time to edit. Newborns especially need a lot of touch ups; flakey skin, mottled colouring, jaundice...the list goes on and on. I can easily spend more than 30 hours editing a Gallery, and although I truly love seeing the final product, the hours do add up!

So, again sadly, I have to raise my prices. I have tried to avoid it, but truly there are many (and I mean MANY) photographers out there charging at least double what I do, with a FAR less superior product. I am trying to keep it reasonable; sessions are going up to $150 for a "Classic" Session, and Newborn Sessions will be $200 (weekday session pricing) Prints are going up a bit too, but don't worry if you have a gallery, are on Baby's First Year, or have already confirmed a session for a future date, your prices will remain locked in for the remainder of the year!

The new pricing will be up on the website tomorrow along with a NEW Mini Session with 10 High Resolution Negatives!!

Best Newborn Hair Ever! Scarborough Newborn Photographer

OMG! this little one had the best hair. It was too cute all spike-y, and mohawk like! She was just the most adorable little thing. Mom had visited the studio while she was pregnant to do her bump shots, she was such a sexy Mom to be, and now she is a gorgeous Mom, with the sweetest little girl.

Baby M had other ideas about sleeping, so we ended up with quite a bit of awake shots, but she had the biggest, most focused eyes I have seen for such a youngster, so they are great shots just the same!

Since it is a spring baby of unknown sex, I got purple tulips for our session. Mom did not want any pictures of her face to be shown, as she (like me) is uncomfortable having her picture taken. I got up the other day and there was this pretty covering of ice splinters on all the trees! Grabbed my camera and snapped a few before my client came. Finally had the chance to look at them, and I thought this one was nice with all the bokeh!

Okay, so I booked myself off for a few weeks to play catch up and have some renovations done to my kitchen, so this will be the last studio entry for a few weeks. I am still available on the phone at 416-931-5736 or via email at melaniedarling@adarlingshot.ca, just not booking clients again until after the 18th of February (First week back is almost booked up already!)
Maybe I will actually have time to do some "personal" editing and I will be able to share some of my still life, and nature photography!

This little fellow was back in my studio in person this time. Mom and Dad were in for a Maternity session a few weeks back! Little guy was a week early (it has been going around:) ) , so he actually came to the studio on his due date! Excellent!

He was awesome, and put up with being posed pretty well...he was not too keen on the whole basket thing, but we got some great shots on the bean bag and with Dad!

This adorable little one really gave me a run for my money. None of my usual tricks worked and she did not want to sleep! She was such a little sweetie though, and we still got some wonderful shots! Thanks for being patient for your sneak peeks guys!

It takes all kinds to make the world go around! I deal with so many people, and Thank the Lord that the majority of my clients are as enjoyable to work with as this young couple was.

Poor little munchkin was really jaundiced and had to go under the UV light multiple times. I want to thank Mom so much for keeping me in the loop from the minute baby was born!

Dad texted me from the hospital right after Baby was born (10 days early!)

Mom let me know as soon as she thought there was a possibility of having to reschedule due to jaundice. We worked it all out, and after two reschedules we had a great session!
